Arts Professionals from Ludwig Foundation of Cuba in Vermont

The Vermont Caribbean Institute (VCI) is excited to welcome three interns from the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba in Havana to our state in October. These young arts professionals will be in Vermont throughout the month to explore Vermont’s community-based arts initiatives – models of participatory programs that engage communities in the creation and preservation of our unique cultural heritage. Trained in arts education, filmmaking, and computer engineering they are involved in some of the most innovative arts programming in Cuba today, including the Digital Clone Program at Ludwig Foundation.

These young Cubans look forward to talking with Vermonters about their work, their vision for the social development of the arts in Cuba, and the mission of Ludwig Foundation to protect and promote emerging Cuban artists. They are eager to share their vibrant perspectives on contemporary Cuba as they learn about innovations in community-based cultural programming in Vermont.

VCI is preparing a month-long itinerary that will take this group to various communities throughout the state. If you would like to invite these young arts professionals to engage with your organization or class or to be involved in your work in any way, please contact VCI.

A public presentation is scheduled for Friday, October 28 at Amy Tarrant Gallery at Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington (www.flynncenter.org), from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, prior to the Ravi Coltrane concert.
